Try mixing texture and color…if you have a great plaid for one child try doing a solid color chunky knit for your other child–it will add interest to your photo without too much pattern. Some of my favorite patterns this fall are houndstooth and argyle for boys and for girls anything from paisley to plaid. I’ve seen so many great looks in all these prints!

I took a “family break” the past few weeks before my kiddies started school! It was a big September in our household! Taylor started Kindergarten last week & our “baby” Addison started her first year of preschool this morning. Lets just say {sniff sniff…. SOB… yes lots of tears & yes all by me}. They just grow up way too fast! M

{My words of wisdom for today} Even if it’s not by me…{have your children photographed}…{have your family photographed}…{captured being you}…{documented being your family}. There is nothing more important than family & I promise  you will never regret having too many pictures.

Here is a snapshot of Taylor & Addison’s first days of school! Taylor had a hot & sunny day {and he was a bit crabby from being up early}… today we had to wear jackets for Addison’s! Fall is here!

We were back in the studio this morning & soon the fall season will be full swing! Between lots of family fall sessions & another huge baby rush headed our way we will be quite busy. We are looking forward to seeing all our old clients & meeting all the new ones too! Note: we have very limited sessions for 2011…fall sessions have been booking like hot cakes! Have a great day! xo

As we hit Spring (not that Minnesota got the message to warm up yet) I have decided to take a few weeks off. Time to spend with my daughter before she turns 3, time to spend with my son as he finishes the last few weeks of preschool (I am not quite ready for him to start kindergarden in fall), time to spend with my mom while she is here from Georgia, time with my husband since he is always traveling, time to spend with Molly as she continues rehab from her stroke 4 weeks ago, time to really enjoy Mother’s Day! Balance is huge for me & I believe the better balance I have the better mom, wife, friend, daughter and a better photographer I am for you (my wonderful clients) when I am photographing your families. I also look forward to REALLY cleaning my office, my closets, my house (might even clean out my prop room at my studio). I have a few sessions to wrap up, packages to ship out & as we know there are always a few newborns to photograph but other than that… I am off to just enjoy!!

Session availability – very limited sessions remain in June & July. If you expecting a baby and have not reserved your spot contact us soon as we try to keep some slots open for upcoming newborns! Speaking of newborns check this out. We were featured!!

My favorite two little love bugs!!! Taylor will be 6 in fall & Addison (Addi-cakes) will be 3 in early May! xo

Fall has been a crazy but exciting few months. So many new clients, lots of sweet newborns & of course I love seeing my returning clients too!!

I am ALMOST all caught up proofing client sessions then I am going to take some time off and head to Atlanta to see my Mom!! So looking forward to it. It will be our second Thanksgiving since losing my Dad to Cancer & it is still so hard. I am glad I get to spend such an important time of the year with her. Above anything else is family!

For those clients that have your galleries & are working on your orders… please get them in within the next week and at the very latest by Dec 1st. We need time to do any custom orders & allow time to get the orders to the printer before they shut down. For all my December clients we can work together on time-lines as we go! I think I have 9 newborns in December!! Something must have been in the water around here 9 months ago.

Scheduling: We are now booking Feb-June 2011. Actually I think we have one more slot in January open. Balance is key for me so for 2011 I will be sticking to my schedule of shooting 1 weekend a month & 2-3 Wed mornings (reserved mainly for newborns).

I love what I do & do what I love… so thank you to all my amazing clients for making 2010 a very fun & successful year!! An exciting new project is underway for 2011… more details as we can release them but I can just say we are very excited!

Tried photographing my own children today! Although cute, Addison is truly stubborn & really wants nothing to do with sitting next to her brother Taylor for a picture!! I just want one of them together! Is that to much to ask?! Our family holiday card this year just may be a collage of the 2 of them with Addison pushing her brother over every time he would try to sit next to her… ahh the joys but I do LOVE them oh so much!! xo
